Everything You Need to Know About the FGSVS

In October 2020, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) announced two programs to assist Alberta in reviving its economy and recovering from job and business losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. You can always discuss this with the immigration consultants in Delhi.

Foreign Graduate start-up visa stream details

The Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream (FGSVS) is a collaboration between the AINP and two provincially designated agencies: Empowered Start-ups in Vancouver and Platform Calgary in Calgary.

The business plans of foreign graduate applicants will be evaluated by these two agencies based on the following criteria:

a.       The plan should be able to show that there is a market need or demand for the product.

b.       The company should have the ability to succeed in the market in the short to medium term.

c.       Details on customer acquisition and business development should be included in the plan.

d.       Details of key partnerships and financial plans that will aid in the development and operation of the start-up should be included in the plan.

The designated agency will submit a written report after the assessment is completed. This report must be submitted with the applicant's application to the program.

What are the requirements of this program?

1.       Work experience

A minimum of six months of full-time work experience, which can include active management or business ownership, or equivalent experience (equivalencies are work experience with business incubator or business accelerator).

2.       Education

Completion of an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a post-secondary institution outside of Canada within the last two years. A Canadian degree must be equivalent to the education credential.

3.       Business plan

A business plan with projected financials.

Pitch deck: A 10-minute (slide-only) presentation that describes the proposed business venture and focuses on what an investor wants to see.

4.       Language

Each English language skill (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) must be scored at level seven in the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB), and each French language skill must be scored at level seven in the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). Official test results must be less than two years old at the time of the EOI request.

5.       Business Establishment

If the business is located in an urban core, it must have a minimum of 34% ownership, or a minimum of 51% ownership if it is located in a regional area outside of the Calgary and Edmonton Census Metropolitan Areas.
